My name is LB Blackburne.
My story is a strange one.
I’ve written by entire life- poetry contests and newspaper opinions until an English degree and a career in video game journalism.
And then an accident. One that broke all my ribs, my skull, all my molars…
That left me unable to think- to work or walk or even read. A brain injury. A serious one.
I was told by doctors that those days- my days of living normally- were behind me. To prepare for a life of pain and disability.
I refused to accept that this would be the story of my life- I saw literally dozens of specialists and spent hours everyday fighting.
If I was told to practice focusing my eyes on a yellow dot for ten minutes a day, I did ten minutes every hour I was awake. My life became recovery, and spending time with those I loved.
It took me a year to be able to read a sentence, and nearly eighteen months to walk straight.
Two and a half years and I could use a computer.
Seven months to write my first book…and a month to write my second.
I am now back to myself. A working, writing homeschooling mother in Alaska-
Making my way to an agent, to my first published book, then a career in writing.
And, just like with my brain injury, I won’t give up until I get the ending I know I was meant to have.
